With his head and half of his back on the floor, Raitzeno stirs awake, moaning as he pulls his feet off the top of the bar. 'Urrrgh... what happened to me this time?'
Beorn walks slowly into the bar and looks around. He notices Raitz, gives him a puzzled look from under his hood followed by a slight nod, and slowly walks towards the bar. "Gimme a Fire, Maly"
You say 'Last thing I remember was... lessee... a drinking contest with Red XIII... a tequila fish... and some bad dares... Wait, that doesn't help me.'
Beorn buys Starlet Fire.
Beorn says 'A drinking contest? With Red XIII?'
Beorn laughs.
Raitzeno shuffles around his compartments. 'ha...? I had about 8 daggers in this one...' he mutters, pulling packing popcorn out of one. He reaches into another and pulls out a box of condoms. 'And there were caltrops in there. What the HELL was I doing?!'
Beorn lets out a grim laugh. "I don't know who you are, but you are quite strange."
Raitzeno tries to nod, and falls right over. 'Name's Raitzeno' he says from the floor. 'This seems like a good spot to stay for a while. Just until my legs start working again. And you are?'
Beorn says 'Few know my true name...Generally people call me "Beorn".'
Raitzeno nods awkwardly with his neck still bent. 'ood to meet you, Beorn. Oi, Maly, mind givin' me something light to start my servos back up?' The hostess only shakes her head.
Malystryx says 'Nothing for you until you get up from the floor, Raitzeno. I don't want you looking up my waitress's skirt... again.'
Beorn laughs again. "I hold by what I said before. You *are* a strange one, Raitzeno."
You say 'Oh, I completely agree. I certainly am a strange one. But right now, I'm also a hung-over one.'
Beorn nods slightly, then takes another swig of his Starlet Fire. "I see. So you came here merely to have a drinking contest with the guardian of the Canyon?"
Beorn drinks cordial from Starlet Fire.
Raitzeno shakes his head emphatically, immediately regretting it as he slams his head into the floor multiple times. 'Ow ow ow. No, I'm pretty sure I had a good, non-alcohol-related reason for being in Cosmo Canyon. But damned if I can remember it.'
Beorn sits in silence for a minute, then tilts his head upwards, clearly listening, or attempting-to-listen, to something higher up in the canyon.
Beorn says 'Bugenhagen is here. Perhaps you should talk to him. They say he can almost read minds, or close enough to it.'
You say 'I'm not sure... I'd rather not have anybody reading my mind. If I'm gonna stand there and plot treachery against absolutely everyone I've met and most I haven't, I'd rather not have someone reading.. my.... uh. Forget that one, eh?'
An unnoticable grin forms on Beorn's hooded face from the last statement. He looks straight at you. "Perhaps you and I are more alike than it seems, then."
Raitzeno grins and nods. 'Sounds that way, yes. Tell you what. You pull me up into a chair, and I'll buy us a round while we share in some friendly plotting...'
Beorn lowers his hand down to Raitzeno's lying spot.
Raitzeno grabs the hand and allows Beorn to pull him up.
Raitzeno plops down in a chair wearily. 'Oi, Maly... One for each of us, please.'
Clearly doing something he hadn't in a good while, Beorn lifts his hood off his head and lays it on the back of his neck. Underneath, a clearly weather-worn and worried, yet grim and proud face comes into view. He nods again.
Beorn lets out an audible sigh, thinking back to old days long past. "So you're into the thieving business?"
Raitzeno nods. 'I've mostly been on the espionage side lately, but I'll occasionally switch back to the simple yoink-and-run style, especially when the battles die down, like recently.'
Beorn nods. "I am quite similar, though I didn't always call it a profession...I'm from the Gold City. I used to be a guard there." He lifts his cloak slightly to show the gold armor underneath.
Beorn says 'Then things got slightly...boring. Too boring. After a little bit people started to look at me as a thief AND guard'
Beorn grins evilly.
Beorn says 'They were right.'
Raitzeno places his right hand on his left wrist to keep from reaching out and grabbing at the armor, still grinning. 'I see.'
Beorn says '...So then they finally caught me. After 6 months of it. And they exiled me. And...well, here I am now.'
You nod.
You say 'I've been there briefly. The whole place is a little too stuck-up for me.'
Beorn says 'Yes, many people are rather rude there. It's too bad, really.'
Beorn shrugs helplessly.
Beorn says 'Such is life though'
You nod.
You say 'You know, I've found a VERY efficient cure for rudeness.'
Raitzeno fondles a dagger lovingly. 'I've noticed people tend to shut the hole in their face if you make a new one in their back.'
Beorn grins evilly.
Raitzeno finishes off his drink and orders another, somewhat stronger one.
Beorn suddenly looks back towards the door and lifts his hood over his head again. "I must be off for a short while. I'll see you later, Raitzeno." With a nod, he stands and walks out of the inn, Starlet Fire still in hand.
Beorn nods.
Raitzeno nods and raises a glass to Beorn's retreating back. 'And a good day to you. May all your dealings be dirty.'
Beorn leaves se.
