[ Maverick Hunters Headquarters - Break Room ]
Seikou is lounging on the couch, looking out the window, eyes unreadable...
Variance enters in his particular brand of nonchalance, bordering on boredom. His hair is a bit frazzled, despite his most recent patrol being mostly uneventful. Of course, that in itself could be cause enough for his distraught demeanor.
Seikou looks up as Variance enters, raising one eyebrow at the hair but wisely deciding not to comment. "How did thinkgs go today, Vari-kun?" he asks.
Variance mutters something noncommittally and half-heartedly tries to straighten out his disorderly locks, throwing himself upon the sofa. "They didn't."
Seikou looks concerned now. "Vari-kun, you're acting a little too annoyed for -nothing- to have happened..."
Variance sighs, letting his head rest on the back of the sofa, gazing blankly at the ceiling. "I was tired when I left, and I don't prefer doing nothing while tired. It's nothing to worry about."
Seikou rummages in his generic bag o' inventory for a moment, pulling out a purple-and-blue can which he offers to Variance. "Here!"
Variance levers his gaze to the can for a moment, the short span of time used to decipher exactly what the object was before taking and opening it gratefully. He starts taking a somewhat extended draught from the can, at least more extended than usual.
Seikou grins a little. "I have no idea -why- caffine works, but it does!"
Variance nods in agreement, setting the can, along with the rest of his arm, on the closest armrest. "Goddess be blessed for small favors..." An odd expression crosses him seconds after he utters this, as if he's surprised it came from him.
Seikou blinks at Variance, looking concerned again. "What's wrong, Vari-kun? You looked odd there for a moment..."
Variance shakes his head quickly, dismissing the strange look. "It's nothing, I just... surprised myself for a second." Had he really delved so far into his devotion to Mana that he'd begun worshipping its governing deity subconsciously?
Seikou sighs and leans back again. "...Ya know, it may seem wrong, but I actually kinda miss the battles against Vaisu..."
Variance huffs in a liberal amount of disdain, taking another swig from his drink. "I say good riddance. He was too arrogant for his own good, and for those around him." Yeah. Lots of love, there.
Seikou sighs and closes his eyes. "Yeah, but when he was around at least we had something to -do-."
Variance ponders the statement for a moment and nods in hesitant agreement. "Good point."
Seikou says '...I don't know, I'm just so bored...'
Variance mumbles concurrently, resting on the back of the sofa again. Things really -were- too quiet...
Seikou says '...But Sigunasu-san said there was a new Hunter!'
Variance suddenly tightens his grip on the innocent can of Karma Jolt, putting a few nice dents in the thin aluminum.
You say '...I know.'
Seikou inches slightly away from Variance. "Anou... dou you... dislike him?"
Variance sighs and straightens up again, looking at the already-empty can before half-heartedly pitching it into the wastebasket next to the cooler with deadly accuracy. "He has the largest ego I've ever had the displeasure of seeing, that's all."
Seikou nods, allowing his guard to drop a little. "I understand now."
