Aura - The Pure Truth: The Orphan of the Storm [3]

The ring of blue pulsed again, this time growing several shades
in hue as it formed a vivid blue ring of light energy that simply
hung in the air. The dryad, seeing this, leaned over Aura's
forehead and half-peered down at her face, almost expectantly.
Caught between the man's mystery, the dryad's growing impatience,
and her own lack of insight, she sighed.
"Alright, fine. I'm hoping that everything I've been told,
then, holds true. After all that's happened so far, my
patience isn't exactly what you'd call 'plentiful'."
The man just grinned, saying nothing further. With a half-back
glance at the village behind her, Aura stepped cautiously towards
the shining portal. Be it an act of impatience on the part of the
spirits, or a random surge of mana power as she drew near, Aura
would never know; the ring of light pushed forward suddenly at
her approach, swallowing her whole and leaving not a trace behind
that she was ever there to begin with.
Apparently satisfied, the old man nodded, and turned back towards
the village.
"May the Goddess watch over my granddaughter, when I cannot..."
