Tenor - The Origins of the Cleft: Tenor's Song
Apr 1 20:07:40 2005
Tenor sighed a deep sigh and lowered his straw hat to shade his eyes from
the intense rays of the sun. A string of wheat twitched up and down, the
movement's origin being Tenor's moving mouth.
A few little boys were playing next to him in a field, and he lowered his
back on the tree into a more suiting position. Fireworks went off in the
sitance, signalling the beginning of the festivities.
"I thought this would never come!"
Tenor sprang to his feet and ran towards the booming explosives, not having
another care in the world, except which pie he would eat first. The sound
of children and adults alike playing and dancing filled the air like a
sweet aroma from a field of flowers, and refused to leave his ears at
rest.
A young, handicapped girl hobbled along just in front of Tenor, wanting to be
at the part just as bad as he.
"Come, come, Melinda, hop on up!"
The little girl hopped onto his back as they sprinted ever faster towards the
fireworks, when something terribly unexpected happened.
It seemed that one of the fireworks exploded just a little too early, only a
few meters off the ground. Not only did it set the ground on fire, but it
created a giant swirling portal, into which everything was being sucked in.
Tenor could already feel the pull of the portal, but refused to let it take
him. He accidentally dropped the girl, and she was immediately pulled in.
Tenor looked back, eyes filled with tears, and only looked up a second before
a rock promptly hit him inbetween the eyes, knocking him out and hurtling him
into the swirling vortex.
